The Eucalyptus Hill Improvement Association

As a professional with decades of experience in banking and real estate, Maureen McDermut spends much of her time listening to and facilitating the needs of her clients. She also serves as a Board Member of the Eucalyptus Hill Improvement Association. This nonprofit association acts as a forum for discussion and administration of issues such as zoning and safety in the local area.

McDermut brings her real estate perspective and her intuitive understanding of property values and trends to the board of nearly a dozen people interested in maintaining the community. These people chair the association’s meetings, where they lay out the goals of the organization.

For instance, the has established an ongoing “block captain” program. Volunteers for the program are responsible for distributing information and aiding neighbors in the event of a disaster. This program has been a great success, attracting 40 volunteers. The association also provides support for natural recreation, having created a walking trail with the help of people from the neighborhood.
